This room was in need of major help! My dear friend asked me if I could makeover this space, and I jumped at the opportunity. Many personal friends use this space every day, and the school where this is located is near and dear to my heart so we donated our time to transform this lunch room into a place they wanted to be in–and enjoy every day! The only downside was that my budget was really tight so I had to get creative. Changing out the fluorescent lighting was top on the list, and knowing that the right fixtures would make all the difference I put up two drum shade pendants with crystals that instantly added the feel we all desired. Next came the seating…this was more of a challenge! By diligently scrolling through online classified ads, I found the perfect dining set that could accommodate everyone. I painted out two of the chairs using a Neapolitan blue chalk paint and recovered the seats in a vibrant fabric. For additional seating I used Ikea Parson-style chairs and dyed the white slipcovers using the left over chalk paint. The sofa and chair were a lucky find as they were the perfect hue and in excellent condition! My favorite piece was the art over the sofa that added so much color & life to the room. The accent colors were pulled from this painting and were used on the cushions as well as the original photography kindly donated by Eyes Wide Open Photography. Lastly, the walls were painted in a soft gray, and the high ceiling a soft green. The staff were so surprised at the transformation and have said over and over again how much they love their new lunch room! Bon Appetit!
